Gateway M275 Memory Installation Instructions - Under Keyboard
Note: Before beginning, review electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.
Follow these steps to add or replace memory under the keyboard.
- Shut down the computer, and then disconnect the power adapter and modem and network cables.
- Disconnect from the optional port replicator .
- Turn the computer over, and then remove the battery .
- Remove the two keyboard screws.
- Turn your convertible tablet notebook over so the top is facing up.
- Open the LCD panel to the normal viewing position.
- Insert the small flat-blade screwdriver under the bottom of the keyboard bezel between the F11 and F12 keys and gently pry it up.
Note: Inserting a piece of cloth between the screwdriver and keyboard will help prevent damage to your convertible tablet notebook.
- Remove the bezel from your convertible tablet notebook by pulling the bezel toward you and at the same time lifting its front to clear the keyboard. You will hear small snapping sounds as the bezel comes away from your convertible tablet notebook. Be careful not to break off the tabs found on the bottom of the bezel.
- With a small Phillips screwdriver, remove the four keyboard screws located at the top of the keyboard and put them in a safe place.
- Lift the back edge of the keyboard, then slowly rotate it toward you so it lies keys-down on top of your convertible tablet notebook. Be careful not to damage the LCD panel.


- To replace the memory, gently press outward on the clip at each end of the memory module until the module tilts upward.
- Pull the memory module out of the slot.
- Hold the new or replacement module at a 30-degree angle and press it into the empty memory slot. This module is keyed so it can only be inserted in one direction. If the module does not fit, verify that the notch in the module lines up with the tab in the memory bay.
- Gently push down on the SO-DIMM and make sure that the two clips on each side of the SO-DIMM click into place.
- Reattach the keyboard by rotating the keyboard toward the LCD panel until the keyboard is almost face-up.
- Insert the tabs on the front of the keyboard under the palm rest.
- Gently press the keyboard down until it is flat all the way across. The keyboard should easily fall into place. Be careful not to damage the LCD panel.
- Replace the four keyboard screws.
- Slide the tabs on the bottom side of the bezel under your convertible tablet notebook frame.
- Press down on the bezel in several places to make sure it is correctly mounted. The bezel is correctly mounted when you can run you finger along the bezel and find no loose spots. The bezel should be flat all the way across.
Note: If the bezel is not correctly replaced, your convertible tablet notebook could be damaged when you try to close the LCD panel.
- Turn your convertible tablet notebook over so the bottom is facing up.
- Replace the two keyboard screws.
- Insert the batteries, then turn your convertible tablet notebook over.
- Connect the power adapter and modem and network cables, then turn on your convertible tablet notebook.
