Gateway Tablet PC Memory Installation Instructions
The Tablet PC supports a maximum of 1 gigabyte (GB) (512 megabytes (MB) × 2) PC133 memory.
The Gateway® Tablet PC comes installed with 256 MB of memory. Additional memory helps improve tablet performance and increase battery life.
Note: To avoid the risk of personal injury or damage to the tablet, when performing the following tasks, turn off your tablet, unplug the AC power connection, and remove the battery. Ground yourself by touching the tablet. Avoid touching the pins and leads on the memory and the internal circuitry of the tablet.
Note: Before beginning, review electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.
Adding Memeory
- Turn off the tablet, unplug the power, and remove the battery.
- Ground yourself by touching the tablet or another a grounded appliance.
- Remove the two screws from the L-shaped cover on the bottom of the tablet.
- Remove the the L-shaped cover on the bottom of the tablet.
- If you are removing a module, release the clips on each side of the memory module.
- The memory module lifts up to a 25-degree angle for easy removal.
- Install the new memory module in the slot at the same angle.
- Press down on the memory module until it snaps into place. Be sure the new memory modules are aligned and firmly seated in their slots.
- Replace both screws on the external cover and turn on the tablet.
- Replace the battery, plug in the power, and turn on the tablet.
- To check that the memory module has installed successfully, tap Start , My Computer , and then tap View System Information . The General tab shows the amount of memory now installed in your tablet.
Note: If the amount of memory shown and the memory you have just installed differ, the memory module may not be seated properly. Remove the module and repeat steps 2 through 8.
