Gateway 200STM Memory Installation Instructions

Note: Before beginning, review electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.

Note: When adding or replacing modules, you must shut down the computer before starting the procedure, and then restart the computer after the new module is correctly installed.

1. If the computer is on, save all work, and then use the appropriate Microsoft® Windows® operating system procedure to turn the computer off.
2. If applicable, undock the computer.
3. Close the cover, and then turn the computer over.
4. Disconnect the power cord and modem cable. Remove the battery.
5. Remove the memory bay cover screw, and then remove the memory bay cover.



6. If you are removing a module, gently press outward on both clips at either end of the memory module until the module tilts upward.
7. Pull the memory module out of the socket.
8. Hold the new or replacement module at a 45-degree angle and slide it into the empty memory socket.
9. Gently push the module down until it clicks into place.
10. Replace the memory bay cover and cover screw. Insert the battery or connect the power adapter, and then turn on the computer.
