Gateway M505 Hard Drive Installation Instructions

Warning: Disconnect the power adapter, disconnect the modem and network cables, and remove the battery before removing the hard drive.

Note: Before beginning, review electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.

Replacing the Hard Drive

1. Shut down the computer, and then disconnect the power adapter and modem and network cables.
2. Turn the computer over, and then remove the battery.
3. Remove the hard drive bay screw.
   
4. Use even pressure on both sides of the bezel to ease the drive from the bay.
   
5. Slide the hard drive out of the notebook.
   
6. Remove the screws that secure the hard drive to the front bezel.
   
7. Remove the bezel and slide the old hard drive out of the hard drive bracket.
   
8. Slide the new hard drive into the bracket. Replace the bezel and secure with the two hard drive screws..
   
9. Slide the new hard drive kit into the notebook computer.
   
10. Replace the hard drive bay screw.
    
11. Insert the battery and turn the notebook computer over.
12. Connect the power adapter and modem and network cables, and then turn on the notebook computer.
