Gateway 200ARC Hard Drive Installation Instructions
Warning: Disconnect the power adapter, disconnect the modem and network cables, and remove the battery before removing the hard drive bay cover. Replace the cover before restoring power or reconnecting the modem and network cables.
Note: Before beginning, review electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.
- Shut down the computer, and then disconnect the power adapter and modem and network cables.
- Disconnect the notebook computer from the optional port replicator, if applicable.
- Turn the computer over, and then remove the battery.
- Remove the hard drive bay cover screws.
- Slide the hard drive bay cover off of the notebook computer.
- Gently lift the hard drive cable clip to release the hard drive cable.
- Slide the hard drive cable back to free it from the clip.
- Lift up the end of the old hard drive.
- Slide the old hard drive kit out of the notebook computer.
- If the new hard drive kit has a cable already connected, go to step 13.
- Remove the cable from the old hard drive.
- Place the cable from the old hard drive on the new hard drive. Be careful not to bend any of the pins on the hard drive.
- Slide the new hard drive kit into the notebook computer.
- Slide the hard drive cable into the cable connector.
- Gently press down the cable clip.
- Replace the hard drive cover.
- Replace the screws that secure the hard drive cover to the notebook computer.
- Insert the battery and turn the notebook computer over.
- Reconnect the optional port replicator.
- Connect the power adapter and modem and network cables, and then turn on the notebook computer.
